I first heard about the calendar from Eizo on the Society of Radiographers’ RSS feed and then up it popped again in Street Anatomy complete with more pictures. I love them! They really show the beauty of the human body and the complexity of the skeleton in particular.
I (like the SoR) was a little concerned about the radiation dose to the model but I read that the images are all Photoshopped from existing digital images – no models were exposed to radiation at all.

I’m on holiday at the moment. Not actually on holiday but not at work (as opposed to doing work, which I am).
Through a link from a link I found this brill cartoon site that just tickled me. Here’s a small selection of my favourites

Maybe I see something of my self here…

We’ve just had a team building day at work. While I didn’t feel like murdering the facilitator I could have damaged some of my colleagues!
This last one just amused me. Have a read at the commentary that goes with it from the site.
Who could possibly design a phone that can’t be tethered? Possibly the company that designed a phone that didn’t do 3G when it had been pretty much the standard for the last 4 years. Could this be the same company that created a phone that can’t do more than one thing at once? I did read somewhere that it can actually multi-task but it just does it differently, one task at a time.

The author does have a point thought. Ever tried to use free wifi in a coffee shop or pub or any of the other places where wifi is supposed to be available? It is certainly not reliable, or easy to connect to in a great many cases. It takes patience, skill and a knowledge of the operating system’s more advanced features (that’s the iPhone out then
).
That’s all for now. I’m off to delete all the gmail people that register to post comments on this blog. I know they are all spam bots because none of them have websites of their own!

I’ve been playing around with Google Maps and Google Latitude today. Maps are of course the map, satellite imagery and notorious street view. Latitude is the GPS tracking facility. I’m now tracking Nick’s mobile phone so I’ll know where he is each day when he is on holiday. If he stays stationary in Bangkok for too long I’ll start to worry that the red shirts have him. Anyway, while reading around the Google Maps site I discovered the feature that enables you to create your own route map, so I did. The map below shows my walk from Ipswich Station to the university. The only problem is that the Google satellite must have passed before the uni was built so it looks like I work in a heap of rubble!

VERT
I’m off on my travels again. It is the NRAG conference and I am going to be there delivering key messages… Or giving out leaflets. I couldn’t get into the Premier Inn so I’m in a Novotel. It is like a P. Inn but more expensive and with less food. I had two courses and I’m still hungry. There is a different type of image on the wall. Instead of being bland and relaxing it is vibrant and a bit stressful. I guess they don’t want guests to sleep but want them awake and paying for the premium tv channels and extortionate broadband - 18.99 for 24 hours!

VERT
I’m in Nottingham tonight before my last VERT visit to the department tomorrow. As you can see I’ve got the depressing lollipop trees on the wall. One of these days I’ll find out their significance. In the meantime I’ll just be glad not to see them again. I wish I’d managed to get a picture of the testes and uterus picture that sometimes hangs in the Premier Inn restaurants but it night look a bit wierd taking photos of it.

This is a picture of one of the guns at Dunbar barracks. I took it way back in April 2008 but am posting it as an experiment with lifeblog.

I’ve been having problems posting images in WP. They when I insert them the dialogue box says “crunching” and then not much else happens. Today however I did manage to upload an image. By pure coincidence it was only 69.7 kB in size. I did think deep down that this was the problem. I have previously searched everywhere but no one is saying what the maximum file size for upload in a post is. I’ve done a bit of experimentation and here are my results.

72 pxi, Photoshop Save for Web high (60%) 70.8 kB jpg

300pxi Photoshop save for web High (60%) 201 KB jpg width 1000 px

300 pxi Photoshop save for web High (60%) 327 kB jpg width 1500 px

300pxi Photoshop save for web High (60%) 485 kB jpg width 2000 pi
All these have uploaded without any problems. The last one I tried was 896 KB so I wonder if the max is 500 KB. One last go to check…

300 pxi Photoshop save for web High (60%) 578 KB jpg
Nope, I guess it is not 500 KB. This is probably getting a little large anyway and 500 KB is probably a good size to aim for. Now, wonder if I can set up some sort of image macro to do this automoatically?

Miscellaneous thoughts & ravings
Here I am in Middlesbrough. It’s not at all what I expected. I thought it would be all industry and chimneys. I should have known better, all the industry closed down during the last recession.
I’m here to visit VERT at the James Cook Hospital. Handily it is just across the road from the Premier Inn I’m staying in. It is so close that I can see the air ambulance helipad from my window, and hear it landing. I just hope the ambulances I can see parked outside A&E are not going to be too noisy through the night.
As Premier Inns go this one is just the same as all the rest, expcept for the art work. I’ve got the lollipop tree picture on the wall. There is something differentabout this one though. Can you see what it is? Maybe someone has a sense of humour here :-).

WoW
Level 62 and 93% and I finally achieved my paladin charger. I could just have gone out and bought one but I like a challenge. Nick’s level 80 death night helped… actually did most of the work. I just stood back and healed him and his minion at appropriate moments. Here is the beast in question, taken during a rain storm in Stranglethorn where I was helping Nick’s alt rome nogue (?) with some nasty orcs.

What do you think of the new Wordpress theme? I found it last night, well, the early hours of this morning really. I saw it and loved it! It is designed by Geek With Laptop. I’ve had to make one or two changes though. The original theme had a picture of an iphone and I couldn’t have one of those on my blog. With a little bit of creative Photoshopping I changed it to my n95. I also added the PDA and changed the coin to a Scottish £1. I added some dropped shadows to make it a little more alive. I also had to alter the line spacing of the tabs above in the styles sheet to 1 instead of 3.5. 3.5 looked well weird if the page titles were longer than one line.
I am still using Wordpress 2.3 which is so out of date. 2.7 has been released and I am desperate to upgrade. Only problem is that I might be changing server at some point soon and I don’t want to have to do it all twice. I also can’t find the login details of the current server to do a database back up! This is the sort of thing that I berate Nick for.
After the server move and Wordpress upgrade I am going to install a photo gallery plug in. I have been searching around for a good one and think I have found one designed by Alex Rabe called NextGEN Gallery. It is on the Wordpress plugin page. It works with WP 2.7 so it is not really worth while trying to get it to work on my version. It looks really, really cool and I think will do everything I want… upload pictures and create thumbnails and do cool stuff.
